I've been thinking about switching to Linux, but I have some questions first. The first one being, what more can you do with Linux if you switch from XP? How do I burn it on a CD, and do I need anything special to do so. My last question for now, is how is it pronounced?

Please don't tell me if I don't know the answers to those questions, that I shouldn't be using Linux. I can learn.

2) you download the image as an ISO, Nero or whatever other burning app should have a "burn image" option somewhere

Pronounced LIH - nux (just as it sounds).

As for your other questions, I don't know. I've actually seriously thought about installing Linux on my XP laptop and doing a double-boot deal. So I'm kind of in your situation.

Another question, when I switch to Linux, will I lose all of my files from XP?

depends on how you have your harddrive setup now

if you have just one big NTFS partition: probably, you're going have to move your data around (backup to CD or whatever) if you want to keep it

Well, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to fit everything on my hard drive on a CD. Unless there's some kind of CD that can hold a lot of stuff...
