What are the songs that would suck and lose their meaning if they didnt have solos?

Comfortably numb -Floyd
Any old Metallica like One, Fade to Black etc.
Dance of Death- Maiden
... on those lines!

Freebird fo sho!

Stairway to Heaven also.
Some people like cupcakes exclusively, while myself, I say there is naught nor ought there be nothing so exalted on the face of God's grey Earth as that prince of foods:

Free bird. It would be a 5 minute boring piece of ****.

Ashes of the Wake by Lamb of God would be pretty awful, about 1 second long.
#6
Anything by Dragonforce would be total silence without solos...
ohai little sig.

Any John Mayer song with a solo.
Any instrumental.
AC/DC songs
Alice in Chains songs
Trivium songs
Some Pearl Jam songs.
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.

Confused? Good.

National Anthem - Radiohead

The brass section makes the song class.

I hope this doesn't turn into one of those threads were people start going:

"If a song doesn't have a solo its sh*t" threads.

Linkin park use solos?

But for a second thought. November rain, all you would hear is axel's scratchy voice.

Nooo! I meant to say LP don't use solos.
What the fuck is wrong with me?

OH YE, THE FLYING FUCKS BAND!

A lot by Guns N' Roses. Nightrain, Sweet Child O' Mine, Paradise City (the end solo that goes on for about 2 minutes)
November Rain etc.
#21
November Rain wouldn't be the same.

Folsom Prision Blues would lose its springy charm without the solo (for me anyway).

Live Forever by Oasis would also seem less special to me. (The song that started me playing guitar)
#23
The mental solo in Tears Don't Fall by Bullet For My Valentine.

Seriously, rag on them all you want, but that is a kick as solo.

Wake Up Dead - Megadeth. That song has one verse at the start, one line in the middle, and an outro bit with vocals. Without solos it would last about a minute.

Megadeth - Hangar 18...would be ok but not the amazingness that it is!

How about songs that would be better with solos?

A solo for "The Wolf Is Loose" by Mastodon would be really interesting. Pretty hard to fit in though, I guess.

ALL SONGS LOLOLOLOL!!1!

Ok seriously, We Still Kill the Old Way, Godzilla, and To Hell We Ride by Lostprophets would all sound great with solos in.

Some SOAD songs could use a solo. And Radiohead need more solos, judging by the few songs which have one, it'd be awesome.

And, what's so wrong with a song that has a solo not having one, TS?

I mean, one of the best covers of "Tom Sawyer" by Rush that I've ever heard didn't have the guitar solo in it. And it was still great.

What does it matter?
