I think you can get a Tama five piece set for that much or a pearl export. I have a friend who likes his drum kits but i have no idea if there any good or not, they just bang dont they?:P

You don't generally get drums based on what style of music you like. I mean yes you would get a jazz set for something like that. But for most types of rock you just get a normal drum set. It's more to do with how you tune the drums that affects your sound. Tama, Pearl, Yamaha, Ludwig make good sets.

Thanks

any kits inparticular i should look at by those brands?

I have a Ludwig Accent CS Custom that I really like. It cost about $750 American (about £400?). For cymbals, if you don't have much money, get some Zildjian ZHTs.

i think you should get....

a decent taste in music

Judging by your listed bands, you're not one to talk. You shut up now.

All of the bands listed use a pretty basic set-up, they just add different things to make their sound, whether it be a double bass pedal for KSE, or different tunings etc.
there is no fear in this heart.
