Yesterday I was at my friend's party and someone there kept talking bull**** like "My life sucks like this" and "my life sucks like that". Then everyone started crying and **** and starting telling their ****. I mean, none of it was even tragic. I get so mad when people who really don't have any major problems say they got it bad cause 95 percent of the time, they don't. I mean, I know all these people. They're all middle class, they all have a home, they are all fed well, they all go to a really nice school and they all have moms and dads (even if they're not around). I also hate it when people say they're mom's and dad's beat them. I was like "how?" and they're like "With a belt dumbass!". I mean, I was hit with a belt many times and I don't complain. I probably deserved it most of the time anyway. Mom's and dad's do that cause they ****ing care about you, not because they're mean and just want to hurt their kids. I think the message they give in school like "Kiddies, if your mom and dad hit you, that's abuse and you need to call the "Teen Depression and Abuse Hotline". Most of the time, it's no abuse. Can anyone relate? Please don't respond and be like

"You know what pisses me off? You loL!".

Ah yes. Middle class white teenagers with absolutely NOTHING to be depressed about whining like they have nothing to live for.

My friend was like that at one point. It basically requires a slap in the face to say "Oy, dicknose, there's **** all wrong. Now stop being an asshole and get on with life", and they're fine.

When they claim it's depression, also, it usually isn't. Depression is a very serious ilness, not just feeling hard done by because they didn't get their pocket money.

Pisses me off the most because I've actually had **** to be depressed about before, ended up near alcoholic throughout this summer, and yet I'd still encounter people thinking they had **** worse because they ordered a DVD and it didn't come or something pathetic like that.

These people all just need a punch in the face and to shut the hell up.

I didn't get spanked or belted when I was kid. I would usually get stuff taken away instead. For instance, if I screwed up, my parents would take Gameboy away or something. I'm actually thankful that they did that sort of stuff, because I learned lots of lessons, and now I'm mature about things. My parents are fantastic people, and they raised me pretty well.

Why should you care if other people are emotional about things like this?
And to all you people saying about middle-class kids thinkin' they have it bad, Isn't it subjective? I mean my idea of a bad day might be losing 20 quid and stepping in a puddle.
Just because there are people in the world to whom a bad day might be not eating and having their house shot at, doesn't mean that I'm not entitled to be annoyed!
People might be naiive in what they're thinking, but that doesn't mean that they're not entitled to think - it's just a phase I'm sure you all had ones you regret!
Oh, and I don't believe that you should ever hit a child.

just because they dont seem like they have issues, doesnt mean they dont. But i agree with you all the way, teens dont know what they have. Its all circumstantial though, how do you expect a teen who has everything to cope when the slightest thing goes wrong. To them, a slight setback seems huge because they don't really understand what bad is. It's all just their circumstance, but also adolescence in general, lots of confusing **** and lots of emotions.

No, that's reality. You know what happens to most kids that don't get spanked? They have ZERO respect for anybody or anything. Know why? It's because they got away with it at home. They get the mentality that if their parents, who they use to judge right and wrong, don't punish their actions, and I mean actually punish, not just time out, then it's ok to repeat them. The important thing for a parent is to know when to scold and when to spank. Spare the rod and spoil the child isn't always the greatest thing to do.

There are successful ways to discipline a child that don't involve hitting them.

I hate what discipline has become today....time out? WTF is that?

When I was young, I got my ass kicked(with a belt or by hand) when I did something stuipid, and I deserved it. All kids do.

I saw a kid in the store yesterday begging for toy(which I wouldn't have been dumb enough to do in the first place when I was young). The mom said no, and he just kept going. Then she told him to put it back and he said something like, "No! I want it!" and kicked her.....

I was like, "Holy ****, this kid's gunna get the **** beaten out of him..."

But no. She just tells him to put it back once more. He refuses again, and she caves and buys it for him. I couldn't believe it.....

Here's how it would've went with my mom and I....

Me: Can I get this toy?
Her: No. You don't need it. Put it back.
Me: okay.....*puts it back*

OR

Me: Can I get this toy?
Her: No. You don't need it. Put it back.
Me: No! I want it!

It's not a great source of discipline. It is not necessary to resort to violence. It is not the best way to do it and it's a solution for lazy parents.

Although I agree essentially, I do believe there are better ways to deal than just plain anger and beating.

Whenever I see a parent getting angry and hitting their kid in public I really have to think of them as a bad parent.

It just seems to me that it's a last resort, out of desperation and lack of control, and just shows weakness as a parent. I can't help but think if the kid was taught propper discipline beforehand, you wouldn't need such force.

Anyway, the little rant I was starting to type about the type of parents I tend to see doing it isn't for this thread

But yeah, it's amazing. There are times in public where I think some kid that's acting up is going to get the shit kicked out of him, yet nothing happens. And I'm a little tired of all these 4th and 5th graders walking around like they're hot shit. Seriously, you're a 4th grader. Actually, the current solution for lazy parents is do nothing. At least kids learn something out of being beaten. But I do see what you're saying.

Didn't get beat enough as child and should get beat more now. Grow up a bit huh? He's not raping black people and murdering jews you ignorant punk, he's expressing an opinion. So, get over it.

Anyways, as you could probably tell, I don't like those people either. Really iritating. They don't have famine, the worst they would have to worry about is that their cellphone ran out of minutes or w/e or they got a bad grade on the test because they were crying in math class and their eyeliner dripped from their tearing eyes and smudged the answer, so instead of it being a 1, it turned into an 0.

Oops, run on sentence. Oh well. I think I might have got my point across.

I agree. It seems like where ever I go, there always some kid who is screaming and stomping around and the parents don't do shit about it. And about the 4th graders, they seem to think they are instantly cool because they yell out "Your hair's long" from a moving bus window.

I know a girl who's always whining about how emo she is and how depressed she is but she has a nice life.....People get sad and depressed, it's life...

EDIT: and for people who are going to think my parents are lazy and stuff please don't, my parents are very loving and only disciplined my sister and I when necessary (Which was pretty rare with our parents.) and we're not the kids who are doing drugs and having sex when we're 15 because our parents cared enough to teach us instead of just sit there....

Who are all of you to judge who's depressed and who isn't, and who has suffered and who hasn't? I'm middle-class, but that doesn't mean I don't suffer from my share of problems. Ever heard the phrase, "Money can't buy happiness" .. Now, I don't mope around and complain or anything, but even so, my life isn't perfect because I'm not poor. Physical abuse does in fact cause psychological issues depending on the situation. If you were taught that when you did something wrong you'd get beaten, that's a whole lot different from kids who go home every single day and get beaten for not putting the dishes away or not putting their shoes in the right spot. Sure you got punished, but there's a difference for once in a while punishments and being abused every single day.

I don't agree with hitting someone when you don't get your way personally, because all you're doing is implementing violence where it's deemed unnecessary, and also you're basically acknowledging that it's the answer/ solution to get someone to behave... when in reality, there are far more intelligent ways of teaching someone.

I definately see where you're coming from that people need to know when to learn and get over things, and when to actually reflect upon your problems.. a part isn't a good place to do it.
