For a first tube amp is the B-52 AT-112 good? I have had a Vox Valvetronix for a while now so im gonna go for an all tube amp pretty soon. So what do you think?

I've heard that B-52's are really good but I'm not much of an expert on this stuff yet so I can't really help ya out.

if you play mainly hard rock/metal, it's a great amp for the price.

I've heard they're amazing value from some and that they're absolutely s*** on the other.
I was seriously considering getting one, but they're almost impossible to get hold of in the UK

Yea, id say they are from what ive heard. With the Jekyll and Hyde, it should be awesome.

But for anything else besides metal or what not its nothing special, right?

^^ i heard the cleans were actually pretty good, especially for a high-gainer.

The cleans stay clear even when cranked, and with an OD boost the gain sounds amazing, without OD you can get a great hard rockish sound. It gets a little trebly though, so most people tend to EQ it something like: treble 1, mids 5, bass 8, or something like that.

Its a huge upgrade from the Valvetronix (no disrespect to Valvetronix owners.)

i didn't think it had any crushing metal sound though. i played an Ibanez with EMGs full volume with low master volume, gain/preamp volume cranked with eq of t10 m5 b10. it wasn't that good of distortion...

I agree I wouldn't call it crushing either. Its still (in my opinion) only a moderate-gain amp.
