^Topic. I want it to be able to do creamy cleans and be able to take OD and distortion pedals well to get a hard, but not exactly "face-melting", tone that is suitable for balls out rock (more distortion than Zeppelin and ACDC, but less than metal bands and modern rock). I was looking into Peavey Classic 30, Fender Blues Jr, and Traynor YCV40, but I'm open to more suggestions.

nah don't. peavey classic 30, crate palomino V32, and the traynor YCV40 would be nice. blues jr won't have that much gain. i think palomino would be the best bet. it'll do the 80's arena rock thing (think journey) fine, as well as zeppelin's fuzzyish cranked marshall tone, and ac/dc tone too.

^it actually does. it gets a fizzy overdrive, then you turn up the gain knob, it goes towards cranked marshall, then the journey/scorpions type gain.

Thanks guys, note that I don't care about the natural overdrive of the amp, if a pedal can make the sound heavy, than that's all that matters for the distortion. I'll look into that palomino, I've never heard of it.

i hate pedal distortion. sorry. i jsut live with natural tube amp overdrive.

now to be cool with the tube pedal swearers: i haven't tried any tube overdrive pedals. but if i can get the amp, i think natural overdrive would work better.

i have one. good stuff for led zeppelin with the "soak" on 5 and it goes up to 10 so that should suit you. 50 watts, Celestion Vintage 30 speakers and i think it's 500 USD
