How easy is it for somebody to replace tubes in an amp? How often should I change them? When will I know a tube needs to be replaced?

1) Easier than changing a lightbulb
2) When they break, every 4 or so years
3) If the volume fluctuates, if the silver inside the glass turns white, when they sound bad.
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

Its pretty easy, but I still take my amp to a tech to get the work done. I like the routine maintanence to be done by a knowledgable person who has been working on amps for a while instead instead of internet forums. Some things are worth doing right.
Thats just me though.
