I'm looking for a new all tube amp and I decided I want a Laney.
Originally I wanted a VC30-212 (30 watt, 2 x 12" speakers) but the guy in my local guitar shop suggested looking at the LC range (which is all tube).
Anyone any experience with either series?
Which would be best?

I have the VC15 and it's good for blues and rock and could probably do metal if i pushed it with a pedal.

Check out the laney website for soundclips of the two.

An advantage the LC30 has over the VC30 is separate EQs for each channel i think.

The LC is meant to be even more unreliable than the VC though...
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

I'm not bothered about seperate channels, my pedals got 2 12AX7 preamp tubes and its own EQ with true bypass, so thats what im gonna use for the high gain stuff

Whatever you choose, you should try it out first, there have been several people on here who have bought VCs only to be shocked when it doesn't take well to their fave thrash metal band covers because of it's vintage voicing. The LC has a bit more of a modern voicing but I would say it still has relatively vintage voice compared to a lot of modern amps.

If you want to know a difference in the sound, check out the Laney website. You can compare the LC and the VC with different tones etc, it helped me choose. I think the LC generally has a nicer tone, in my opinion.

the LC sounds worse then the VC in my opinion
i like the clean of the VC, i intend to use it for more "classic" tones
and saving up for a GH100L for the high gain shiz

VC - brittish voicing (think lots of mids, marshall-esque amps)
LC - american voiced (more like a fender, but not as good)

i think you'd be better with the VC, and perhaps some sort of pedal to help push it a bit harder.

how do those marshall handles compare tonewise to, say, mesa handles?

If thats the case it will be great for that. Just make sure you have a big enough budget for both amps?
