Just need a quick bit of help here. I have Vista on the PC I'm using, and MSN (Latest one) keeps giving me a error saying that a firewall might be blocking it, yet it isn't, and on my old computer, my router has never blocked MSN, and also, I've tried the stuff it has on the MSN help site.

Anybody got any ideas how to solve it?

It'll probably be Windows blocking it from it's own personal firewall crap. Try turning that off.

I have, no luck with it. I've also added MSN to the firewall exceptions list.

You could try and defragment your hard-drive.

hahaha

"have you try.. uno what i'm sick of saying that.. i'll be right up"

that or

"hello IT.... have you tryed forcing an unexpected reboot? You see the drive hooks a function by patching the system core table so it's not safe to unload it unless another thread is about to jump in there and do its stuff. And you don't want to end up in the middle of invalid memory. [laughs] Hello?"

sad thing about that is i know what his talking about

i was one of the ppl who got vista when it first came out, and you basicly couldn't use msn cuz i would just crash every 2 minutes.. took them about a 3 weeks or so and they fixed the problem and i haven't had it crash on vista since.. they have reli improved it since it first came out

Windows Firewall. I've tried changing the settings and turning the firewall off too.

You know, you could just E-Mail their customer support with the error code, whether it sucks of not they might be at least some help.

Also, make sure the date and time on your system is correct, otherwise it won't sign in then either.

IT won't work even with the firewall off?

Wow..I'm stumped man. Sorry I can't be of any help. I think your best bet is probably emailing someone at Microsoft.

yea its a firewall setting.
have windows bypass that program. Dont turn the FW off because youll be hacked like the other stupid member here today...................

vista is strange...my network wont work well on it half the time because of the FW so my bro set our network up so that I would not need a FW turned on and I must say...it helped quite a bit.

now I can transfer files though the network from my laptop to my desktop without it giving me any trouble.

Vista sucks. I'm using it now on a new HP laptop. Way too many compatability problems with different things like, my built-in webcam not working in yahoo messenger, lots of games don't work, printers? forget it, this is the biggest pain in the ass OS I've ever used. I seriously considering buying XP. Oh yeah, I'm downloading Messenger now, I wonder what the chances are that it will work?
#33
To be blunt, I worked on designing the new Windows Live Messenger and it's the most temperamental program on this earth, just like its predecessors. And Vista is the operating system equivalent. Thing is there's a lot of solutions you could go through but it could also just happen that you try again tomorrow and it works.

Saying this, what's your error & extended error code?
