Well I'm looking into getting my first electric guitar/amp. I think I've decided on the Squier Standard Tele as most of my playing is country music. I am looking to get started on a pretty tight budget since afterall I really only play by myself or with a friend, no gigging at all. So my question is this: What amp will give me the best sound for say under $50. I know that's a pretty low price...but really I don't need much power as I am only playing for my own ears. Right now I am looking at this because it seems to have gotten pretty good reviews and is in my price range. Any help is greatly appreciated.

spend a few more dollars and get a 15 watt crate amp. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Crate-GT15-15W-1x8-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=482092V

for the refurb

I'd say get a better amp than guitar. you wont have fun hearing crap your amp makes, no matter how good of a player you are, or how much of a quality instrument you have.

Is there such a thing as a heavy riff with out chugging on the e string?

you aren't gonna get anything outside a bad pawnshop SS amp with that

In the $50 price range all the amps are pretty much going to be the same. Solid state, >15watts, 2 channel, VERY basic little amps. So pretty much anything you see under 50 bucks, get it, because its really not going to be any better or worse than anything else under 50 bucks...to be honest.

As compared to any other 50 dollar amp, Crates are terribly horrible. But arent anywheres near good.

Raise your budget to $60 and you can get a Peavey Backstage, a very good sounding quality practice/beginner amp.
