Ok so when I try to record stuff...it appears that the sound I get on my speaker is also recording. i.e.: let's say I play a certain song on my computer while playing along to get the timing, it will be recorded...and I dont want it to be 'cause it's way to loud and all messy. Is there any way to fix that?

It's hard to answer this question without knowing how you are setup to record.

Guitar straight to PC?
Guitar to PC with amp modelling software?
Mic'd your Amp?
Amp's Line out to PC?
