I have narrowed it down to 2 amps

B-52 AT 212

Peavey Valveking 212

+

Bad Monkey Overdrive/some overdrive pedal

Which amp plus an overdrive pedal would be better suited toward a progressive metal, death metal, hardcore, thrash type of sound.

If you do suggest me another amp, please dont suggest a 5150/6505. I want something different and original.

PLEASE HELP I HAVENT HAD AN AMP IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS AND I NEED TO PLAY!!!!!

B-52 has a lot more gain on tap than the VK does and with an OD would have even more, so I'd deffinately suggest that over the VK. You could also go for one of those Randall combos, but I really wasn't too impressed when I played one.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

I know they used to have problems, but as far as I know, the new ones are fine.

I think the VK has more distortion at lower volumes, but the B52 is more modern sounding, especially cranked. B52 would probably be better for metal as it takes to mid-scooping a lot better than the VK. I have had both amps. I play blues/classic rock so the VK works better for me.
They are both Chinese amps so reliability is always an issue.
