My stock pickups are incredibly noisy, and I was looking to upgrade. I was looking at either Hot Gold Lace Sensors, or maybe a Fender Vintage Noiseless. A lot of people say that Lace pickups have a sound that's somewhere between a single coil and a humbucker, and I've read alot of complaints about VN on some threads. I'm looking for a classic rock 70's era sound, so any advice would be welcome.

If noise is your only issue, spend $20 properly shielding your guitar rather than $150-250 on new pickups. Actually, you should do that anyway. Lace Hot Golds are supposed to be a more vintage-sounding pickup. While not completely noiseless, they do reduce noise. They're also a better value, IMO, than buying stock Fender pickups.
