What is the best setup under $1200 for Classic Rock, Hard Rock, and Blues? This includes Guitar, Amp, and any Pedals. I only have about $600, but another 2 months of work would get me around $1200, so I'm just curious. Oh yeah and for under 600 I'm looking at an Epi LP Standard and a Vox amp, but If possible I'd rather not get the Vox(I want a tube amp). Thanks!

get the epi or a deluxe players strat and either a fender blues jr or hot rod, or peavey valve. add on an ibanez ts9 and maybe a wah or big muff.

I dunno, off the top of my head maybe a Fender Strat MIM, Vox AD30VT amp, and a big muff or something. Still have some money left over probably for some more pedals if you want them.

Or if you're not into strats then the epiphone les pauls are a good choice too. Roland Cube amps are also good for the money. If you want tube you'll only be able to afford/use a small wattage amp (but it'll sound better).

Actually you'll probably be way under your budget with this gear. No matter.

Ok well it looks like you got a great budget, do you plan on gigging or playing with a band? Or just practicing in your bedroom?

For guitars the Epiphone Les Paul Standard.

The plaintop should be good...

Or the standard...

YOu could also get a Fender stratocaster or telecaster.

As for amps great choice with going tube. There are a lot of options it just depends on which one you'd prefer.

These are some good ones...

The PEavey Classic 30

You could save some money and go with a used Vox AC30 CC1, which go at a pretty good price.

The Fender BLues Junior is a nice well priced amp, if you want to save some cash also.

You'll probably have near $100, or so left over with that, get a good overdrive or fuzz pedal. Or maybe a echo/reverb.

Crate Palomino 30w, Fender Strat or Epi LP Custom, maybe a TS9 or Guayatone OD (like a TS), maybe a RMC Wah or Mega-wah. I think u can get a Vox AC15 for $550 or so. The Crate can do Classic rock on its own, the OD is for Hrad Rock. Blues should come fine w/ some EQ adjustments, especially with the Strat's neck p/u. Altho the Epi can do anything fine, especially the Hard rock.

Strat and a Blues Junior with an OD. OR Strat/Tele and and a Vox AC15CC and an OD. But that's just me.

PS: I mean MIM Fenders.

I've got something in my front pocket for you.
Why don't you reach down in my pocket and see what it is?
Then grab onto it, it's just for you.
Give a little squeeze and say: "How do you do?"

I got a Gibson SG Standard for $800 (used) and a VOX AD50VT for $360 (new). If i am correct, that is $1160. You don't need any effects, because the VOX has a ton of them. The Sg with the VOX just sounds awesome.

I'd say a used Fender tube amp for around $400-500, a Tube Screamer for about $100.

That leaves you around $600. I would suggest a Fat Strat, and you would still be left with $200 for maybe a nice pedal or two.

With $1200, it strikes me as silly to spend twice as much on the guitar, and pin yourself down with a SS amp. (abait a nice SS amp)

I'd lean towards an $800 amp and $400 guitar, than a $400 ampw and an $800 guitar.

go to your nearest store4 and try them out... but whatever tube amp you get you should get the epi with the humbuckers or deluxe players strat for 600 with vintage noiseless pickups, I cant even tell you how awesome they aare, and they kill the hum.

Thanks for all of the great replies! I'm looking at most of the amps named, but as for the guitar I'm pretty sure I want a Les Paul. I'll check out the other options though! And by the way, ATM I'm not in a band, but I probably will start one soon after I get the gear(I'm playing a cutaway accoustic right now-I don't even have an electric, but I still play Led Zep, Gn'R, and Hendrix on it.).
