This might get tossed in the bandleading forum, but what the Hell here it goesSo our school is having a talent show in about a month. And they problem I've noticed with most bands at a talent show is there is a broad audence and at least half the people there either don't the song/genere or just don't get it. Like at last years show there was a band that did a TSO cover and then there was a scream-o band and alot of people just seemed real turned off. So some people and myself were considering do a song or two, but we we're thinking of a few song that most people would like.

So we were thinking of doing either Working for The Weekend or I Believe in A Thing Called Love.

What are some other awesome Crowd Pleasers?

I don't care what song you do, but if you stand on stage like a bunch of bored idiots and/or mutilate the song beyond enjoyability you won't please the crowd.

Backstreet Boys - Bye Bye Bye usually does the trick.

Additionally, I've found I can get a crowd riled up with AC/DC's Highway to Hell, as everyone knows it, and it's a relatively simple song to learn.

Song 2 - Blur, works pretty well.

I got invited to play drums for a band that's doing that in my school's talent show. we were practicing in the music room at lunch, and a bunch of people came in and they looked like they were enjoying it.

Well, if you can pull off Free Bird....

But since most people can't, something popular but not current. Think songs that may have been overplayed in the past but haven't really been heard much recently.

If you are really THAT concerned if how you are received by the crowd just play songs off of guitar hero 2. Seeing as how pretty much everybody owns a version of guitar hero, and its usually 2, and probably play it some just pick one of those songs. Or just play any classic rock song.

When I did a 'gig' during a lunch hour in my school's sports hall we played about twelve songs, and I think the two that went down best were Song 2 by Blur and Monster by the Automatic.

The power to feel with others give.

There was a gig at our school recently where one of the bands played played cover of Sweet Child O Mine, made a complete horse's arse of it, and after their setlist got booed of stage.

Moral of the Story - don't play anything beyond your skill level

Ace of Spades by Motorhead is a good energetic song, and Holy Diver is one I like to play that everyone seems to enjoy. Sunshine of Your Love by Cream would probably go down well too, or Hey Joe or All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix, everyone likes Jimi.

I would nearly always prefer to play metal though.

This isn't exactly a song, but before you perform the song you're going to play, give a Freddie Mercury style vocal battle with the audience. That's a real pleaser.

As for an actual song though, try I Wanna Rock by Twisted Sister.
