Before we get started and provide the photographs you all oh, so desire, I have a question. Copper shielding: Is it as easy as buying the copper shielding, like this, and just laying it out under the pickgaurd where the pickups are?
yea. but u have to secure it with tape or something like that, and then ground it.
How would I ground it? What would I ground it to?
look for some copper sheilding tape, not just sheilding. Then put peices in the cavities, and make sure they overlap. then i think u need to put a peice of wire from the bridge to the tape or behind the tape. thats how i kno how to do it, and it might not be right.
Can anbody else help me? No offense, qotsa, but you didn't really answer my question.
id just pick up the tape you suggested or go to stewmac.com where the have different sizes, then put it in the pup/control cavities
Should I glue it down or anything like that?
it has an adhesive backing like scotch tape, so no glue
I think that when you ground ina guitar you ground to the bridge
You don't ground it to anything, besides maybe if you have a ground that screws into the side of the body lie eyou always do. You put it in the guitar's control/pickup cavity and then on the back of the pickguard, effectively creating a faraday (Sp?) cage.
Mmk, thanks for the help guys.
