Hey guys, I've been playing guitar for about a year now (the last 3 months seriously) and I've decided that it's time to upgrade. Right now I have a Washburn Strat-copy that I got for $40, a tiny practice amp and a digitech effects pedal. Do you guys have any suggestions on reasonably priced guitars and amps that can perform well for me as I'm trying to progress? Your word is really appreciated.

as far as budget goes, I really don't want to spend over $450-550. I've been looking at a lot of . I also really like the . I'm not too sure about the P-90 pickups though. Does anyone have any experience with them? Another model I'm really interested in is the I want to start learning some blues/rock and a little jazz, but would this guitar be good for other stuff as well?

As far as amps go, I've been looking at some small vox amps, like I've also been looking at Marshall's new 'Valvestate' amp series. Any suggestions? I would like to have some pretty good power, because I do like to jam with my friends occasionally. I would also like to have a wide range of effects and controls over the tone and sound. Suggestions are welcome.

As far as pedals go, I'll accept some suggestions as well. I'm constantly saving my money, waiting for the right gear to buy. My little digitech I have right now is okay, but not great by any means.

thanks guys!

For Guitar: The Les Pauls should be able to play anything really, I'd probably go with one of those if I were you, is the most versatile of the 3 you listed.

For Amp: I haven't really heard good things about the Vox Pathfinders, go with an ADxxVT series, they're great amps and you can get all kinds of tones out of them, from clean all the way up to metal. I'd suggest staying away from anything Marshall in your price range, the only good Marshalls (generally) are tube amps.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

tubes in general dont have a "set" purpose. the voxes tube is traditionally used in guitar preamps, but for voxes purposes, they use it in the power section.

I'd take the wildkat out of them guitars. I was looking at getting one a while back as they're way cooler than les pauls IMO. I never tried one though but i would suspect it to sound like an epi casino which is quite bright but still warm sounding.

the pathfinders are quite nice for vintage tones, it's just the valvetronixes have kinda superceded them and are more versatile... plus all those low wattage cheap tube amps too...
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Which one would be better for me, the 30 watt or 50 watt vavletronix? I know this probably a stupid question, but what is pre-amp and pre-amp tube and power amp? I know the ADxxVT series has like 11 different amp model things on it. What other effects does it have?

Has anyone here ever played a wildkat or had any experience with them?

Also, what are some good effects pedals? thanks for everything guys.
