On this for my first electric guitar:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-RG2EX1-Electric-Guitar-103382115-i1167867.gc?full_sku=103382115&urx=1

$30 bucks cheaper than on musiciansfriend.com, woot woot : )

My budget is around $400-500, so any last thoughts or suggestions before this bad boy is ordered?

my only suggestion would to throw in some Dimarzio pickups in that baby after you get it

no dont do that!
the emgs are way better than d adderios!
thats like buying a guitar with a floyd rose and taking it out!
XD
what do you play? im assuming metal, and id suggest you get the d addarios with the light top and heavy bottoms or GHS dyl 12 gauge strings for metal in drop c

In the second post in this thread I listed amp and strings I am planning to get...oh, and I will pretty much be playing all kinds of music, but the majority will be metal.

It's his/her first guitar, new pickups really aren't necessary...

EDIT: TS, the strings you are planning on getting are fine.

Yah, the D'addarrio 10's are great for metal, I use them myself. I'm usually in Drop C and they work great.

He gave a budget, and had more money, why not spend it wisely?

Though, after seeing what amp he is getting...

TS why not put the extra money towards small tube combo? and then just buy an OD pedal later for your heavier tones.

Well first, Dimarzio's, not D'addarios, and second, that guitar has EMG Designed passive pickups, not real EMG's.

WOW!!!!

1. It has crappy "Designed by EMG's"
2. D'addario is a string company, they don't make pickups lol
3. Not everyone who plays metal is in Drop C.
