Definitely a tough decision, so many great bands from Britain.

I'd have to say the Clash. Not the most musically complex, but the Jones/Strummer combination made some of my favorite music and to this day I love listening to all of their tunes.
take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin' ship, my senses have been stripped.

Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time
For y'all have knocked her up.
I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe
I was not offended
For I knew I had to rise above it all
Or drown in my own shit.

Smiths maybe. At least from what I listen to the most from Britain...
But I guess Sabbath are good too.

No, not really. On the contrary. The whole Beatles-are-the-best-band-ever-thing is just tiresome. If people actually think that because it's their favourite band, fair enough, but I hate people who say that because "that's the way it is".

Personally it's probably a draw between The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine and The Libertines. The Stone Roses and Pink Floyd are up there too, but just not quite.

Quite obviously The Beatles

I see what you mean, but The Beatles are my Favorite band and i sometimes hear people say taht The Beatles are the best although they don't listen to them or have any of their albums where-as i do listen and have all of there albums .

1+ about The Beatles... It's like that just the way it is and people don't care about what's real and what's not... I mean, listen to The Beatles... What's so goddamn special with them?...

Other than the ones mentioned (queen/Floyd/Beatles/Radiohead) I personally would add Oasis. Mind you, thats mostly going by their early work.
