alrite so i have a traynor 40 watt tube amp and the gain on the amp just falls short of what im looking for, so im thinking of getting an overdrive pedal just to get me there, so i was looking around and ive decided on either the MXR wylde overdrive, MXR GT-OD, a pretty heavy overdrive pedal i think would do it, i do alot of heavy rock (not quite metal but close) rhythm riff work, so i really want a pedal that has alot of note definition and clarity even with palm muting and power chords, so wut do you guys recommend me??

the GT-OD is nothing short of awesome. Smokes others for the price

im really torn between the 2, should i look into other overdrives? those seem to be the ones more associated with a heavy rock tone rather than the "classic overdrive"

go try them both. From my experience, the wylde is noisier, but more gainy, and the GT-OD get's a nice thick lead sound when using it with an amps OD. Both are quality pedals, and deserve some time to see which works better for you

150, but i dont want to use ALL of it on just one pedal, since the 2 mxr pedals i was looking at was only 100 each

i think you would like on of the metal muff. i have the pocket one and i like it alot. it can sounds great on anything from heavy gain to a softer 80's gain and anything in between.

im not looking for a distortion pedal, i actually have a tonebone classic pedal which sounded AMAZING on my old solid state amp, but i upgraded to my current tube amp and they dont mesh well together
