So I can go decently fast but whenever I try anything with my pinky it seems it ALWAYS lifts off the fret board too much. Like it just flails back up. I hate it when doing speed exercises. Any suggestions?

It will get easier. Do what you have been but *very* slowly. When you get your pinky to behave, then start to slowly build your speed.

I use these as my spped exercises every day:

The 1-2-3-4-2-3-4-5-3-4-5-6-4-5-6-7 method all the way to the 12th fret and then backwards.

THEN

----------5--------5-6----5-6-7-----
5-6-7-8---6-7-8-----7-8-------8---

I ALSO USE:

1-3-2-4 up and down each string.


Are there any other useful speed development exercises? I use most of the ones in the lesson on this site.

i hate my index finger, i dont use it when fingerpicking and i only use it for harmonic slaps so its in the way alot of the time.

damn index finger.
