hey, i have been playing guitar lately and( i play metal) i will hit one note on one string and then another but it will sound like they were played as one chord.. why is this?

Because you need to stop the first note from ringing out.

Look up muting techniques on here, and also practise lifting your fingers off the strings as noiselessly as you can when going between notes.

You'll get there with time


Edit: Also if you're playing with LOTS of distortion, try reducing the gain and distortion a bit at first, as they increase the sustain of the notes as well as making increased unwanted noise get picked up.

dude.. thats what a chord is.. 2 or more notes played together... thats y it sounds like a chord

no ****.. i'm playing 2 individual notes but they seem to keep joining as if i were playing a chord.

Yeah, I kind of gave you an answer there. You're not being specific enough.
I've given my advice anyway, so yeah tough sh*t, practise and learn to play properly before showing yourself up on here.
