.......In a word, neither!

JCM800 or a Silver Jubilee, and a Tubescreamer.

DSL/TSL are modern sounding and muddy IMO, and just crap at low volumes, and the Vintage Modern is middle of the road. Not good, not bad. I couldn't get a quality tone out of one. Only a passable one, it's either too muddy or too brittle depending how you dial it in.
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

Thing is, he only used for like one or two songs. Basically he uses them for endorsing. Plug I guess this guy is looking for the old Slash tone. Plus the VM isn't THAT good.

As MrCarrot said, go with the JCM800.

Slash used a Vintage Modern for the recording of Libertad. But, for everything else Slash, get a JCM800 or a Slash Sig or a Silver Jubilee.

Nah I doubt you'd need to. They have quite a lot of gain on tap. At least enough for GNR

Yeah, Slash didn't use any OD pedals and what not (just wah, compression, talkbox, and EQ). So if you're going for his tone...

for volume purposes particularly and as a boost I think you need an OD pedal. 2203 and 2204 overdrive really sound better cranked and to get a comfortable level overdrive that sounds good you might want a good OD pedal.

Hold on. You have a Dual Recto, and you have to ask about this kind of thing?

Dear God.

But yeah, JCM800 or Silver Jubilee.
