Rubbish and misleading title.

What I want to do is change the humbuckers in an Epiphone SG to single-coils. Is it possible? And if so, what should I buy? Nothing expensive.

Thanks.

Do you not just want to split the coils to become single or would you just want single coils instead of a humbucker size?

Is there any black people on UG?
I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

^^^ yeah. If you want single coils in humbucker size, I believe some companies make P90s in humbucker form, but thats it.

EDIT: OR do you want coil tapping? If so, I don't think you can as I believe Epi pickups are not 4 conductor on most models.

yea. P-90s in humbucker size would be nice. it's not the fender single coil, but its another kind of awesome sound.

i think you need to answer the question: do you want a fendery single coil sound, or a p90 single coil sound?

fender: get 4 conductor humbuckers- something like a swineshead AMP would probably be a good choice there, as it's made with rod magnets. I haven't tried it, but the swinesheads I have tried are great, and good value too.

p90: probably bareknuckle mississippi queen or manhattan.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

The AMP things sound about right, I guess. I got some p90s a few years ago and wasn't that keen.

Thanks

Do they ship the UK, though? I thought of them, first, as well.

I know www.dolphinmusic.co.uk sell guitar pickups, I'm not sure if they sell exactly what you're looking for, but it's worth you having a look.

oh, ok. Yeah, that's what i'd probably go for were I in your position, then. Other alternative is just get normal 4 conductor humbuckers, and wire in coil splits.

I'd suspect the AMP would get better single coil tones, while the normal humbucker would have better humbucker tones. probably, as I haven't tried the AMP.
