So it looks like Hilary might be getting the nod from the democratic party based on polls and whatnot which means that Obama will be out of the race. If this happens, do you think enough Obama supporters will vote for Ron Paul that he might actually be able to pull off winning the presidency?

http://www.ronpaul2008.com/

My thoughts are that with Obama out of the race, and since he probably wouldnt take a vp with Hilary based on how he talks about her, that many Obama votes will go to Ron Paul, but not enough for him to win over the major party candidates.

yeah, no way he'd win sorry man. Politics just doesn't work that way. If Obama and Edwards do drop out after the first primaries (considering they loose which i s highly possible) Hilary would have way too much momentum for anyone to beat her. Theres just no way a non-first tier candidate could possibly overtake Hilary like that, especially after a success in the first primaries.

wait so Hilary will probably be president?
as of right now, the polls have her as the leading democratic candidate and i don't think any of the republican candidates have enough support to beat either Hillary or Obama.

so basically, yes

P.S Even if every single one of Obamas supporters flocks to run Paul Hilary is still going to have the majority vote. Thats how far ahead she is in the polls.

if hilary becomes president, everything will go downhill further than it is already. she will remove our armed services from iraq, and they will have time to get back on their feet. then they will come over and we will have a war in united states. it will be terrible.

not necessarily, polls taken show that Hilary running as a candidate against Guliani for president would be close. something like a vote of 46% to 47% indicated by the polls.

i really don't see his support lasting to the elections...he's a shallow candidate with little to offer other than "i was there for "9/11." (imo, of course)

I like Obama, personally, but if the choice comes down to Clinton and Giuliani (as current polls reflect) I'm voting for Clinton, and if Giuliani wins, I'm moving to London. However, if Ron Paul runs third-party, I'd rather give him my vote than either Clinton or Rudy.

I can't stand another 4-8 years of republican fear-mongering.

edit: I don't mean republican CITIZENS, I mean republican politicians. They want to scare you. Oh, the terrorists! Oh, the Mexicans who are going to come in and sling drugs all over your nice clean neighborhood! Terrorism is as much of a threat to the US now as communism was in the 60's, which is to say it's a small threat that's been hugely overhyped so they can manipulate you for votes, money, and whatever else... It's 90% illusion.

ron paul is the man! he didnt vote for iraq, like hilary, and wants to get rid of the income tax!!!! which is genius becuz its like slavery, all the taxes we need come from sales tax, the rest goes to the bankers pockets.

i was driving with my friend and his mom and theres a giant ron paul sign and shes like WHOS RON PAUL?????

the average american citizen doesnt no ron paul because the media rarely talks about him and when they do it is negative cuz they wouldnt be making $ if they did.
#22
Ron Paul has some good ideas, and some bad ones (pulling out the U.N.), but all-in-all, his Republican bid isolates him...he's a libertarian, and he should be running as one.
For the Democrats, Hilary does not have the nomination by a long shot. In a recent poll, 50% of Americans said they wouldn't vote for Hilary regardless of her nomination. Hilary has a crapload of supporters, but how many of them can tell you why they like her? Plus, how many of those supporters will actually go to the caucuses? Same with Obama, and to an extent, Edwards. I'm waiting for the caucuses/primaries, because I'm sure that either Bill Richardson or Joe Biden will pull a Bill Clinton or John Kerry and shoot ahead to the nomination.

You all do realize that Ron Paul's a republican while Obama and Hilary are Democrats, right? I don't think there are going to be that many votes shifting between the two of them. Their platforms are completely, entirely different.

A Clinton/Obama ticket, in all respects, would be highly unlikely, but not impossible. You see, normally when selecting a V.P. it is best to select someone who has differing view points from your own to make the candidacy more marketable, such as Reagan/Bush. George Bush Sr. was a lot more moderate, to Reagan's hellbent conservativeness, which attracted both breeds to their side. A Clinton/Biden ticket would seem a lot more reasonable. However, in recent years, Democrat tickets have often been two more like-minded running mates (often more moderate), so this ticket will be interesting in how it plays out.
