Yes, you read it right.

Pita Bread + Hummus. The greatest snack invented. Discuss the joys of this wonderful combination of foods.

EDIT: I'm eating it right now, so that is the reason for making this thread. *stuffs face* yum.

I love it. I love Pita Chips with Hummus even more though. Favorite hummus for me is Greek Style with lemon, garlic, and a tiny bit of pepper.

It's tasty, but not as good as Baba Ganoush and Pita.

I'm with the OP - hummus and pita is the shizzle. I grill the pita bread with a bit of olive oil I've warmed with chilli and garlic and dig in. Food of the gods.... really cheap gods.

I was introduced this snack of the Gods about a year ago from a family friend. It is amazing.

Try some different variations of hummus like roasted red peppers, they are all divine(except "40 spice", ewww).

Also, if you like toasting your pita bread, take a shot at bagel crisps or even normal crackers. so facking good.

I hate hummus. I really do. I grew up around it and I hated when I was 5 and I still hate it now. Tahini sauce is better.
Oh noes!

it's pretty much bean dip made from smashed garbonzos. then they put olive oil, lemon, pepper, some mediteranean spices, and viola! good stuff though. i wish i could eat it all the time!! there really isn't enough pita brad in the world.

You don't know the real thing until you tried it in Israel or an Arab country. Best pita EVER!
The pitas in Argentina truthly suck ASS!

You've just discovered Israel's second most common food.
We call it "Lenagev hummus" over here, which means to wipe hummus, and I can't imagine an Israeli not doing it atleast 30 times a year.

Tahini sauce is better.

Sometimes tahini paste is used in hummus.

But yes. Hummus is pretty much the most delicious thing ever. I like to spread it on Triscuits. It's delectable.

And I got to agree, the Israeli and Arabic ones are the best!

Frick, now I'm hungry.. Hummus is delicious. Maoz (some falafel place) has pita bread + hummus + falafel + vegetables.. Yum. I wish I was in Amsterdam again so I could get some..

Well I don't live in Israel and the disgusting döner kebab places here aren't nearly as good as Maoz. So it's pretty damn special to me ^^

In Yafo, Israel, there is a shop that SPECIALIZES in hummus. People go there from all over the country to try that hummus.
The owner of that place (Abu Hassan) died a few weeks ago. I wish I tried it when I lived in Israel .

He's not the only one, actually my cousin just started a store like it here in Kiryat Shmona.
But yeah, the man made some great Hummus.

Firstly, its humOUs.

and secondly, I concur 100% humous and pitta is one of the best snack foods ever, and reasonably healthy. BUT

Falafel+Humous (Preferably the one which has lemon and pepper in it) IN a warmed pitta bread = The best food item in the entire world

All these spellings are acceptable hummus, hamos, houmous, hommos, hommus, hummos, hummous or humus. Transliteration means there's lots of possible different spellings, to get the same/similar sounds.
