Anyone here an Aerospace engineer/ Engineering student? I'm attending the USC Engineering campus.....my father went to UCLA and worked at NASE on the apollo projects after spending 20 years and becoming a Colonel in the Air Force...I'm not going into the airforce, but NASA would be nice

:P

I'm an Electrical Engineering/Computer Science major, but I have plans on heading over to NASA or Lockheed Martin to work on some space-related projects there.

Do you specialize in a certain part of the field, or do you design/fix everything aboard an aircraft?

Fix. As in I work for an Avionics maintenance company. I am the sevice manger. I spend my days trying to figure out how someone else screwed up. We specialize in making repairs to "bad" installations of new equipment. Auto pilots being my particular specialty. Our customer base is mostly corporate aircraft. Gulfsteams to Kingairs.

I'm a Soon to be Aerospace Engineer (hope that counts). Still looking for good graduate colleges. My grampa did Aerospace work with NASA Boeing and LH Skunk Works though. Whew, for a minute there, I thought I was the only one with that interest/work relation.

That's tight. Fixing auto-pilots is very baller in my book. I'm more interested in the small-scale hardware or the plain-old software side, so I would totally love working for NASA on one of their space programs, designing chips or writing code or both.

I thought about going into Aerospace but I went with Mechanical. I could always go the Grad school for Aerospace though...

My dad kinda is. He designs jet fuel nozzles I think...

I was at ERAU for Aero engineering, but I'm switching to mechanical to go to college with my girlfriend. Don't have nearly the same passion for it, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I do mechanical engineering with aerospace. I hate it.

I'm in my second year, got an exam tommorow. I don't do any aerospace modules until 3rd year, if I get that far.

Thats how it was at ERAU, everyone took the same classes until junior year. It really sucked. I'm hoping the college i'm transferring to is different.

I'm hoping to do aerospace.
I'm currentlydoing an enginering diploma to get me into uni.

My dad is one, and he works for a NASA subcontractor.

im at the U of M for Manufacturing Engineering. Aerospace was my first choice and I can still take it if I want but after working for 2 years in a machine shop I decided that I will like the manufacturing aspect of being an engineer. I might take some aerospace courses as well as materials courses and get a job in a facility that produces aerospace projects as there are a lot of companies local to me that produce jet turbines and other high end products.

Don't plan on having much time to party . It's not bad, just a lot of work.

Haha. It's the only thing that interests me - is the course stimulating/engaging/etc?

I loved it. I was in Aero, but Aero and Mechanical share the same courses for two years. I'm really interested in that kind of stuff, so i found it pretty cool. Guess it depends on what uni you go to, in the end.
