I've heard about people plugging their guitar into the input on the modeling pedal and the output of the pedal into the return on the amp's effects loop.

I'd imagine this is so that it's just amplifying the pedal without changing the sound.

But, is that why they do it? and what are the advantages of doing this?

Thanks.

Because they're crazy people Geoff

Well I suppose, it'd be bypassing the preamp, and the amps natural colouring to the sound, so you'd basically be using the pedal as a preamp.

Me neither. I was just wondering why they did it. I know a guy that does it with a mesa triple rectifier.
