The academic version is cheaper but you will need a student ID to buy it.

That's pretty cool.

When I got mine, I showed them my uni ID, they laughed at the picture, then they knocked £15 off the price.

Needlessly to say, I never went back to digital village, because they didn't sell budget gear (Behringer, JTS and the like) instead, which by that time, was all I could afford.
