Hey people. I have a Line 6: Spdier III 15 amp and when ever I turn on my amp and play I get an annoying buzz when I'm palm muting or have to do a pause in a song. It's like your putting a microphone infront of the amp's speaker! then as IT does that the buzz gets heavyeir(spelling) So should i buy a noise gate or can I fix this. I play far away from It sometimes and I still have a buzz. It has in a built in noise gate but It doesn't work well. thanks.

Heres what you do:

Put Spider III 15 in garbage.
Go to nearest store.
Buy a Epiphone Jr Valve.

First make sure the buzz isn't caused by bad grounding in your guitar, or by a bad cable or something. If that's not the case and you're amp is also in a grounded socket than it's probably the amp (unless your guitar has single coil pickups, they tend to buzz a lot). A noise gate will probably help, but since spiders aren't really all that good your sound will probably still be a bit noisy and tinny. If you save some of your money you'll be able to buy a better amp that will have a lot less noise (you can get one with a noise gate built in) and also better overall tone.

no not the marshall mini stack. it's just a overpriced amp thats not any better than the Line 6. save up and get something better. Or the VJ, according to lots of ppl. but it depends wat music u play, cuz it might not be modern sounding enough.

i dont think any amps (at least not the common ones you normally see) have noise gates built in.

Ah.

I guess that justifies why the higher end ones are so amazing

my amp has a built in noise gate but it only works to cut out the hiss when im playing. not when i stop.

ENGL has built in noise gates too

Check to make sure there isn't a computer, light fixture, or some other electronic device that is causing the hum. Guitars can be prone to such thins sometimes.

Check the ground of your guitar and your cables.

If that doesn't do it, honestly I wouldn't bother with a gate. It's a practice amp....so what that it makes some noise....just my opinion.

well i set my amp on this blue folding chair I have so i can reach the effects when I'm playing. It has this 1 inch deep bowl in the seat of the chair and my amp Is over It. Coudl that be the reason. IF so how, what can i put my amp on so i can reach while i'm playing standing up? thanks.
