i wrote a nifty little riff the other day but i can't figure out what key it is in, the notes in the riff are G,G#,A,A#,D,E and the riff starts on G if that helps.

there probably is no real name for it, but it could be a g aeolian with an added g#, if the g# is just a passing note, but it all depends on how the riff goes

actually, it looks pretty much like G Dorian with an extra G# in there, but then again, you could probably throw in a few different modes and still stay within the same song patter/style

Fits the 8 tone scale (spanish) if it roots to the E note.

E F G G# A A# C D

I would really have to hear it in context. But I was just playing through those notes and it had a E minor blues scale sound. The G# just sounds like a chromatic passing tone to me.
do you have a recording of you playing it?
