You said you asked to bring an acoustic, but you said nothing about an electric, just take it and it probably won't be an issue, just remember to fingerpick

skip it and play guitar outside

Stop whining and study? Maybe you should sort out the issue in your class? Or is common sense being rationed too strictly these days?

anything else you could do would be pretty stupid and not even marginally helpful, so if you can't bring one... sneak out or something. I used to have 2 periods of "research"... self directed science projects. I ended up downtown almost every single day.

yes it would

learn to build different scales (not as in D or E but as in lydian, mixolidian, bizantine and all that stuff)

bring one of those finger exercise things...you know the one where you squeeze it really hard 'cuz it's basically a giant spring, it'll bring up your fretting hand dexterity. possibly do this while reading up on you're theory. multi-tasking ftw

You could learn the neck. Write out all the notes on the fret board a few times sequentially and then start trying to write the notes in random positions. If your not sure the note, work it out rather then just looking it up.

Or do your real studying, and bring a squishy ball to work on finger strength while you do so.

I'm not surprised that they won't allow you to bring an acoustic. When I was in high school, study halls were generally quiet. I couldn't imagine bringing an acoustic, let alone playing it. It would probably annoy the heck out of everyone.

As was said before, I'd probably study some music theory. Buy a book and read it.
#25
wow...you are committed! Just don't bring your guitar to school, play it when you get home! I mean I might browse tabs or guitar gear or album reviews on UG at school but do you really need to bring in your guitar and play it?
