Hello, im going to buy a tube amp today from guitar center in 3 horus. I have 350-400 dollars, i play rock, and i have a tube screamer pedal. I do not gig I just play for fun. Should I just get the epiphone valve junior? Or are there better tube amps out there? Thanks for the feedback

what music do you play? VJ + tube screamer is good for up to hard rock and possibly some 80s metal cleans blues classic and hard rock are where it shines

Epi valve junior is pretty sweet. The head is sexy too.
What was your previous amp?

Take a look around, see what they have available in their used section.

Then maybe settle for a Palomino V16. It's good for playing for fun at home, but has enough power to jam with friends or even small gigs if you wanted. Generally sells for $350. Talk 'em down.

For your price range, you're probably going to want to check out:

Epiphone Valve Standard
Crate Palomino V16
Crate V-Series V-18 112
Fender Pro Junior Combo

Bring your guitar with you to try them out.

Well, do you have a cab? If so, you'd be better off getting a head.

For what you play, the Palomino, VJ ,and Classic 30 aren't going to work that great. None of them will work well for Metallica or your Grunge sounds, as they're vintage voiced amps. Check out a Peavey ValveKing 112 and try to talk them down on it. These are made in china and do seem to have reliability issues though. They are extremely versatile however, and your Tubescreamer should let you get pretty much whatever you want out of it.
