Wrote this, and one other song the past few days, after a long dry spell.

It's probably pretty rough, but i felt like I had to write something to make me feel a bit better.

c4c, but it might take me a bit to get back to you.

To keep from cryin', I've been tryin'
To keep out of my patterns of long before
We've ran out of songs to sing
But my foot keeps tapping the floor

Tell me what kept me waiting for you
When you walked out the night before last?
It hurts to admit that I did such
But they were my mistakes of the past
And now it's not a hard decision
I'm leaving your clothes out in the cold
And it's too bad, girl we had something
Hidden in the lies you told

Now that I know the act you hide so well
I'm ending what existed between you and I
You'll have your own version to tell
Add it to your volume of lies

I'm closing the book of our history
I know a few more chapters could be written
But I've read your other stories woman
And I don't want to see how this one ends

I've met women that can't keep a secret
Over whom I've lost many-a friend
But you're the only one with harsh intentions
Who plays on the weakness of men

I'd given up on my future for you
Gave up reaching for the stars
I didn't need any more education
Playing my songs in all the bars

Well the lights went out back a while
But I noticed you still got new shoes
I've never been one to lay myself down
With a woman who won't tell the truth
And out of honesty, I'm letting you know
I'm not gonna start nothin' new

I've met women that can't keep a secret
Over whom I've lost many-a friend
But you're the only one with harsh intentions
Who plays on the weakness of men

Pick up what you've left here
But leave my bags and bottles behind
Because I'm gonna need a friend to sit by me
And help me get you off my mind
But they won't fend you off for long
By morning you be on my mind again
And the pain of my mistakes will follow
Like a leaf in an autumn wind

Now that I know the act you hide so well
I'm ending what existed between you and I
You'll have your own version to tell
Add it to your volume of lies

So walk out on that street tonight
Keep your head high and play your game
Just leave me alone with my convictions
So I can drown out your name

Thanks for reading.

I think you've got the start of something good here. It could be tighter though. Try it without the stanzas that start To keep from cryin' and I'd given up on my future for you. To me, those parts feel like filler. In the Pick up what you've left here stanza, try you rather than you've- you've is more passive- and shortening because to cuz- flows better that way IMHO. Also in that stanza- the By morning line- should that be you'll instead of you?
