hey UG,

i need help on my homework,we had the whole weekend to do this but instead played guitar all day.we had to read it and answer the questions but i didn't read it and now i need help.for those of you who still knows oedipus rex i need some questions to answer

what arguement did jocasta usae to persuade oedipus to ignore the oracles?

why did he leave corinth?why did he question polybus and merope?what was he afraid of?

what personality trait of oedipus do you think drives him to insist that the shepard be summoned??

i know i should have read this myself but while you guys are answering this i would be doing a lot more homework from other classes

dude. oedipus rex is SHORT. i presume you're reading it in translation (i get the feeling you don't read ancient greek), and if so, it should take you less than an hour to read. the questions are all incredibly simple too, they're just asking you to summarise the narrative. so once you've read it, it'll hardly take any time at all. and reading will be quick too. yeah.

alternatively, just wikipedia it. there'll be a summary there, that should have enough to answer the questions.

Ignore the oracles? I think one of the main themes of the story is that oracles can't be ignored, however hard you try.

And the others, I've studied it deeply, but I'm sure you've gone over them in class.
Friends, applaud the comedy is over.

I'd dance with you but...

or, alternatively, that you shouldnt be too hasty to assume things based upon what the oracles say and your own limited knowledge.

because my engg class is so incredibly boring, ill help you out.

1. that the oracle didnt come true for her husband (Laius) when it said his son would kill him
2. He was scared of killing polybus, he wanted to know his origin, afraid of killing his dad.
