1. On this do I play in this order: 3,5,5,3,5,5,3,5,5,3,5,5,0,0,0,3,3,3,3,5,5,0,0,0? I got confused because I was playing this one earlier

|----------------|---------------|----------------|--------------------|
|----------------|---------------|----------------|--------------------|
|-0---3---5----0-|---3---6-5-----|-0---3---5----3-|---0----(0)-|
|-0---3---5----0-|---3---6-5-----|-0---3---5----3-|---0----(0)--(5)\---|
|----------------|---------------|----------------|-------------(5)\---|
|----------------|---------------|----------------|--------------------|

2. Do I do the top one first, then the second one second? or do I click 0,0,3,3,5,5,0,0, I tried that and it didnt work very good, it didnt sound like the song but those two look different, this is quite confusing.

These notes came from http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/d/deep_purple/smoke_on_the_water_tab.htm?voted

They are two different parts of the song.

This is the intro.....

|----------------|---------------|----------------|--------------------|
|----------------|---------------|----------------|--------------------|
|-0---3---5----0-|---3---6-5-----|-0---3---5----3-|---0----(0)-|
|-0---3---5----0-|---3---6-5-----|-0---3---5----3-|---0----(0)--(5)\---|
|----------------|---------------|----------------|-------------(5)\---|
|----------------|---------------|----------------|--------------------|

This is played during the verse..........

|------------------|------------------|-----------------|------------------|
|------------------|------------------|-----------------|------------------|
|------------------|------------------|-0---0----------|---------0---0---|
|-----5-------5---|-----5-------5---|---0-----3---3-|-----5-----0-----|
|---5-------5-----|---5-------5-----|-----------3----|---5--------------|
|-3-------3-------|-3-------3-------|-----------------|-3----------------|

i believe the first part is the verse of the song, and the second is the intro

What exactly is a powerchord?

When two notes are on the same spot like that, it mean you play them together as a chord.
#7
the second one is right, the first one makes no sense whatsoever, i think it is probably a different song.

you can use code tags to get better tab in your post (without spaces)
 then your tab.

as for your question, it's basically the same thing... the second one is the way it was originally played, and that opening riff was actually fingerpicked on those middle strings. the first tab is the commonly accepted power tab version, and it sounds fine for solo guitar, because it adds the lower notes that were covered by the bass and electric piano

oh wait, now i see what you were going for... i thought your first post was just the power chords of the riff, but all out of whack... nevermind me...

The verse part is wrong anyway. It goes from the G appegio to an F, then back to a G.

i dont think this guy knows how to read tabs. when 2 or more notes are on top of eachother like that, you play them together as the same cord. so instead of 3, then 5, then 5, u push down 3, 5, 5, and hit all 3 strings at once.
