Im frustrated with my GRX40 Strat!

its a SSH setup but ive changed the neck, and the middle to a four conductor hot rail type pickup and finally the bridge with a stock humbucker.

S: Two wire pickup
H: four conductor hot rail
H: Three conductor humbucker

(it has a bare wire connected to a green, and one white and red wire and a black wire)
whenever i choose the 4th position on the 5 way switch (middle/bridge) it makes this thin harsh sounding tone anything i play, its also very noisy.

So how do i do so i can be able to use all positions without having unusable ones?

could someone please give me a diagram? or make me one?

thanks UG

Do a little thinking and adapt it..?

Do you want the neck+ middle to be hum cancelling? do you want the middle + bridge to be coil splits from both pickups?

yeh both would be good but if it were to be a hassle, id jsut want all of the positions to work.

+1. I'd do that . You have a more complicated configuration so you may need a luthier to look it over if you are uncomfortable.

It sounds like your middle pickup is out of phase with your bridge.

That should be easily sorted.

Does it sound bad in position 2, as well?

1 - Take this diagram, copy it to your hard drive.
2 - Modify it using paint or photoshop to show the way you have it wired now. indicate the colours on each wire.
3 - Upload it to Photobucket or any image hosting site of your choice.
4 - Post it here in this thread.
5 - Tell us the make and model of the replacement pickups.

We'll take it from there.

Cheers,

Yeah, it is. I looked just like that at 20. People used to tell me I looked like him, but I never saw the resemblance in other pictures. I don't have any digital pics of me, so this is close enough. I look more like Billy Gibbons these days.
