ive had this guitar for 4 months, never changed the strings. sometimes i notice green stuff on under side of strings.

If you notice green stuff, I'd be pretty worried. I'd say new strings would be harder the press on to barre because they're so...new and bold.

the green is probably just because the strings have copper or bronze in them

4 months? Eak man. I can't stand having strings older than 1 month on my guitar, especially my Ibanez JS1200. The trem gets kind of funky when the strings get rusty. My cheap Yamaha doesn't matter so much, though with the cheap pickups it makes a difference pretty quickly in the output.

I don't think that's the correct use of the phrase "going mad."
