Hey UG,
Well, just today, I finally found a great EQ setting for my peavey classic 50.
So... I decided to start recording as I have found the tone I have been thinking about in my head.
Only problem, the tone that I want to use requires that i really crank my amp's clean channel. Are there any microphones that would record the tone accurately, but without rumbling or anything like that? And what kind of microphones would you recommend, Dynamic, Condenser, or whatever. And what is a good, cheap multi-track recorder (I'd prefer analog).
And is a mixer really necessary?

I'm a recording n00b, so sorry if the questions seem a bit stupid.

Thanks in advance!
Call me Wes.

a decent quality condenser microphone. (what's your budget?)

if you are using a multi track recorder then a mixer isnt necessary since they are basically mixers that record directly. I can only recommend digital ones e.g. Fostex MR8 Mk2

My budget would be 150 bucks for a mic and a recorder (I will be getting more cash soon though)
I can borrow a good mixer from my church (it's a secondary in the storage room, and they don't use it.
Maybe instead of getting a multi track, is there some way how I can record directly to my computer? And is there much software needed, or will windows already have something for me to use?
