1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles (for some reason I wrote daily, don't sue me)
2. Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
3. Exile on Main Street by The Rolling Stones
4. The Wall by Pink Floyd
5. Are You Experienced? by The Jimi Hendrix Experience
6. Nevermind by Nirvana
7. Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen
8. Thriller by Michael Jackson (*this is before he was a psycho, and his band was funkariffic)
9. Led Zeppelin
10. Joshua Tree by U2

I think it sprinkles in music from various time periods and establishes who the pioneers were. To show how things have begun to come together I'd also say Parachutes by Coldplay and De-Loused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta.

If you listen to everything out there, you have no obvious influences, and you're not a ripoff.

Radiohead - OK Computer
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
Slowdive - Souvlaki
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
A Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory
Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Velvet Underground - Velvet Underground & Nico
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
Talking Heads - Remain in Light

Just spur of the moment. I reserve the right to disown this list depending on mood and last batch of albums I listened to.
And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me: no, nor woman neither... nor women neither.

Surprisingly enough, I agree with you on 1, 6, and 7, in that, I like those albums more. But I just feel my choices are more, I don't know, influential? Sgt. Pepper's has pretty much the last 40 years of music snapping at its heels, Daydream Nation is truly a milestone of alternative music, (though I like Sister more AS WELL) and DSotM sold far more, is a far more satisfying listen first time through and didn't, well, alienate some fans as much.
As for the rest, fair enough choices.

Not at all diverse, not at ALL amazing. Blink 182? I can't see how they're even relevant, being a poop-joke pop-punk band, and Angels and Airwaves is even less relevant, being the spawn of a poop-joke pop-punk band gone out the door. The only two bands you have on there that have any artistic musical value that's going to last beyond nostalgia are RHCP and MAYBE Muse. We'll see about them.

too many suggestions of Velvet Underground & Nico in my opinion... great band, great album, but i wouldn't agree that it should be in a top ten..

it's becoming one of those albums thats fashionable to like
