Hey!

I was wondering, how much difference in sound are there between an unplugged hollowbody compared to an unplugged solidbody.

I reckon it depends a lot on the models/brands, but just roughly.

Hollowbodies are a lot louder unplugged than solids, due to their being hollow.

Well a Hollowbody would amplify the sound. So that maybe? Why would you wonder about this anyways? If it's electric, you need an amp.

Depends. My Epi Dot Studio is loudish (and actually very nice sounding) unplugged, but not nearly as loud as a full acoustic, due to the fact it's got a solid center block. Now, full hollowbodies (Epi Casino and ES-175, certain Ibanez Artcore, certain Gretschs, others) can be just as loud as an acoustic, depending on the model.

Paul McCartney's called the Casino "the only guitar you'll ever need", and the acoustic sound probably has something to do with that.

Now, with full hollowbodies, you get the issue of uncontrolled feedback......

Oh hey, you've got a Casino. Awesome. Got a quick question, what's the upper fret access like on it? That's about the only doubts I have about getting one.....
