i'm looking for a new amp.

i currently have a fender 15g frontman.
terrible quality.

i'm looking at peaveys, maybe an envoy 110.
also considering a tube. the valveking is growing on me.

any suggestions?

nah, a valveking is way too muddy IMO. Try Epi Valve Junior half-stack, great for $250

What's your price range and what music do you play?

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

price range is roughly 200-400 USD
i play anywhere from alternative to hard rock.
really its to practice at home and to jam with a few of my buddies, but they both have valvekings(112 and 212) so i need to be able to play with them.

How opposed are you to going used?

I just got a Used Peavey Classic 50 2x12 for $380...

Well I'll suggest:

Peavey Classic 30/50 (whichever you can get your hands on)
Crate Palomino V16/V32 (112 or 212)

I think both would suit you.

The frontman 15 aint too bad really.

But if you dont like it, dump it. My girlfriend got a frontman 15 free, she likes it.

Great list Rutch. On re-reading this one I'd have to say Solid State means not liquid or gas.

I figured it out.

yeah, i got mine for free but its not all that great for what i'm using it for, it gets too muddy and crackly.

Wahey!

As for the amp advice, I would possibly hang on for the Peavey Windsor Combo to come out. If the head is anything to go by, it should be good.

As much as I'd like to recommend my amp, Americans get charged high prices for Laneys, just as us Brits get charged high prices for Mesa & Peavey.

Failing that, a Valveking wouldn't be a bad plan, neither would an Epi VJ with a couple of pedals (namely overdrive and EQ).
