You turn the E down a whole step to D.

That's why it's called dropped D.

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

just tune the low e string so that on seventh fret, it matches an open a string...don't worry about poppin' a string, you can go much lower

Tune down one half-step.

A half step would be to E flat...

Drop d tuning is excactly that, you drop the e to a d. Droping means "lowering". D is only 2 semitones below e

lol its not a half step
You tune the E string DOWN to D. Thats a whole step. 7th fret E string = open A, open D= one octave lower than the 5th fret on the A.

haha...erm yea...until like now.....i didnt realize that tuning your e string down a half step did NOT make it a d!

of course.....i am the guy who said that "I" and "H" were notes.....

sir, i would like to inform you that you are now my favorite UGer. Not only did you use the word y'all, which is native to my homeland, but you correctly punctuated it using the apostrophe.
