Im condsidering buying a wilkinson fixed bridge for my strat.

How much modding will this take?

probably cutting some **** off of your pick gaurd, and maybe drilling some new holes of screws. as long as the bridge covers the hole where the trem goes it should be all right....or at least that's how things are going over in my head...
If it's a hardtail bridge designed for a trem-equipped strat...no mods at all necessary, natch. However you'd need an all-in-one bridge that doesn't require through-body stringing, since there's nothing underneath for the strings to go into!

So you should just block the trem instead - identical result but much cheaper and very little effort required.
