So, my Peavey T-40 is at a custom shop recommended by my bass teacher, and the electronics are being checked out. The pickups are quiet, the cable jack crackles, and there is a switch that doesn't work. There is the possibility that I need new pickups.

Anyone have recommendations for new pickups that will give a nice fat punchy sound?

a T-40 has some pretty cool Humbuckers, they are passive, but with the,
in phase/out of phase switch, it gets some really nice tone. the T-40 was my first "real" bass, back in 1979. i'm not sure what p-ups would fit, honestly.
i do know it was a great bass to learn on, and it weighed a friggin" ton!!
good luck, and keep practicing!!

What size/shape pickups do you need?

Do they make pickups that work on a phase/ non-phase dealie anymore?

If not, I'd just stick some Darkstars in

In and out of phase is a switching if the wiring of a humbucker. Just get humbuckers that have seperate wired for each coil and you can do it.
