I don't know if this has already been posted but...

Xiphos Seven String in 2008 was just confirmed by Tak Hosono of Ibanez on Jemsite.

I'm happy with my 6 string. I kinda hate the feel of 7 string guitars. In fact, I'm trying to sell my Washburn WG-587. I gotta get a move on that.

Please don't make it black, I beg of you!

Anything, any colour, as long as it isn't black.

They used to be a company known for their outrageous colours like Loch Ness green, pink and yellow...

They're specifically establishing production of EIII7s for one guitar with a market smaller than a population of a cheese village in Switzerland? Are you sure?

Of course they are!

Why, install something like a lo-pro 7 when you can have any posting anyone is ever going to make about this guitar come with 2 or more pages about how the Edge III sucks.

well it's true lol. I dont see why they dont just up the price a little bit and put on a good trem, it'd probably make more sales

I'd buy it in a hardbeat if it was a hardtail in either yellow/pink/green or another offensively ugly 80's colour.

I honestly thought that when the time comes, they'd just make this thing string-thru with a pair of 707s.

I'd deffo get a pink hardtail Xiphos if they made one. I don't even like "radical" guitar shapes, but that would be an awesome guitar.

Yes, and those colours were made in the eighties and early nineties for a reason. Its what was popular back then.(glam metal etc.) Today, those colours look very tacky on a guitar, (not that they weren't tacky 20 years ago) and for metal these days, black, silver, and white is the way to go.
Be cool.

I'll ditto that. If you have mullet nostalgia, pay someone to paint your guitar into Fisher Price colors.

Most people don't care to have neon iridescent guitars. How do I know that? If they would sell, someone would sell them.

Yeah, more colours though even bloody simple ones like Bright Red, Bright Blue or something. Normal colours not "Insert_adjective/" Black.

It would slash the sales of Universe 7 strings. It would basically be a pointy version of that guitar for far less and ruin its sales figures and Ibanez's profits

Yeah Dee found the 36 or so shades of black.

My favourite was the homage to Spinal Tap

"None more Black"

Edit:

hahah! you two that posted before me both have 20th anni DY's. What are the chances eh?

If anything, the 1527 takes a chunk out of UV sales already. An Indonesian guitar, no matter which trem, would hardly threaten UV sales, if only because UV buyers are more likely than not to be the kind who consider Fujigen to be just as important as the holy Mecca or even more.

Well, three of the 1987 guitars are located!

On to the rest, by the way, just for curiosity, but what are your numbers?

Mine is number 90.

that's cool, i think the xiphos is a cool guitar, and remember, they said they fixed the edge III bridge about halfway through '06, and i have one after that period , and i've had it a year or so (i know at least a year), and it holds tune perfect, and i go trem happy sometimes, lol. and i wouldn't defend a piece of crap either if it was one, so yeah..

i would rather have the 6 string one in that chameleon green

i never heard anything about them "fixing" the edge 3. there was nothing to be "fixed" it's just poor quality parts

Fixed as in locked in place so it wont move. Basically a flashy hardtail with microtuners

Actually it's the edge III, but without the routing for the springs in the back, hence it being a "Fixed" bridge.

if its like that fixed edge III on that slipknot sig, the locking nut is kinda pointless. its quite inconvenient without a floating trem
