hey everyone
im sorry if this has been discussed before or whatever but i know
searchbar noob! quit asking dumb questions! barrel roll! rub icy hot on it!

ok now that i have all that out of the way..
this xmas i wanna ask for a new gigging amp from my parents
im looking for tube prefferably

for an idea on what sound i want, i want cleans like Metallica and they're distortion style too
but i wanna be able to crank it to newer metal bands levels (think Killswitch Engage, Disturbed, Slipknot, Xentrix, new Slayer, Mastodon.. that kinda stuff)

and i want more varied tones too.. Neil Young.. SRV.. Led Zep, Skynyrd.. that kinda stuff

suggestions?
i was looking into Mesa Boogie dual rectifiers.. but they're so expensive
and can i get Cabs for em? or are they just made in head form?

if i cant get a Mesa cab for it what cab would be good?

hmm well, a good gigable amp thats tube would been something like this http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-So-Cal-Half-Stack-481487-i1276265.gc

i have played 1, the cleans were pretty good, but the distortion was a bit lacking for newer metal (ATR, Mastodon stuff) but a good OD pedal would most likely push it into that kind of zone.

[edit] didnt know your price range so i went for something modest.

^The distortion on that amp, even with on OD, probably won't be tight enough for him. But that's a beauty of an amp.

is there anywhere i could get a audio clip of it?

The Carvin V3 is pretty versatile and isn't all that expensive.

Carvin V3
ENGL Screamer/Blackmore
Laney TT50
Laney VH100R
Mesa F-50
Maybe even something like a Marshall JCM800/900
A dwarf might hear you. What then?

Just what I was going to suggest, that or a Mesa F-30, or maybe even a 6505/6505+ if you're not TOO fussed about cleans.

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

^That, if you can get it, would certainly do it, though it would take a long time of twiquing to get it just the way you want it.

Eh, not really that much. I hear the manual actually gives some good settings, or you can just ask people that own it what they'd suggest. If you're honestly going to sit there with no settings to start at with that amp then you don't deserve to have it.

+1

It will nail what you want.

Also: it doesn't take that long to get a good tone. I had a good tone coming out of mine after playing for an hour.

However: the hours of tweaking certainly pay off, when you nail an amazing tone
