i was buying some new strings the other day and the guitar center guy said i would need my guitar set up a certain way if i get biggers strings because i wanted to go into drop c. how exactly does it need to be set up? can i do it myself? i play a variety of music thats all in different tunings, which sucks.
drop C should be ok with a fixed bridge and no heavier than 11-52 gauge strings. Otherwise you do need a setup (intonation, truss rod, action). If you've never done it I wouldnt try yourself, although Ive found the guys at stores are always great either ha.
you can do the intonation and action probably if you look it up online but don't mess with the truss rod unless yhou know what you're doing
