Hi I'm looking for a good amp preferably to play thrash & death metal through, I've got about $400-600aus to spend and have narrowed it down to 4 combo amps,
my choices are ,

-Randall RG75 G2
-Marshall Valvestate 8080
-Peavey Valveking 112
-Peavey Transtube Studio Pro 112

Can I please get some thoughts on these amps and whether they will serve my purpose, I dont play gigs just in my garage I have a metal muff pedal that I use as well.
I have been advised by a friend that a good preamp are worth it too one that can be programmed or can provide a few different amp sounds, what are these like and are they worth it, any to recommend ?

Cheers.

The only decent amp out of any of those is the VK...so I'd go for that. I'd recommend some other amps, but Australia is weird with amps.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

where did you find a valveking combo for under 600 ?

The VK112 is only $420 if I'm not mistaken.

If by "clean" you mean "get a finger right up in there and do a good bit of spelunking" then i guess "at any given opportunity" is my answer.

I've heard the Valveking isn't the best for metal/distortion the Randall is suppsoe to be good but not the G3 the G2 series is better also the RG50TC, any thoughts on these 3 ?

Thanks.

If you're going to go for a Randall and that price range, deffinately go for the RG50TC.

How does the RG50TC compare to the RG75G2 are they both tubeamps ?

Which would provide the best heavy/thrash sound ?

No, only the RG50TC is tube. And yes, it gets plenty heavy enough for your needs.
