im pretty sure im gonna pick up a 5150 head on thursday, itll be my first half stack and im still thinking on a cab. anyways i really hate white noise and i know all of you probably do to. so im asking how the peavey 5150 is with white noise. the other guitarist in our band has a vox halfstack (not sure of the model) and its so quite even with turned up gain. i jsut hate backround noise +it makes micing pretty difficult.

like background hum? thats pretty normal from cranking amps with the gain high

The 5150 is a pretty loud amp when nothing's being played. Though the grounding of the place you play in also probably has a lot to do with as well.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

exactly but sometimes its unbearable, my peavey bandit 112 is really annoying me because of it. my gains at 1/2 and my high's turned low. i guess this problem is the only thing that makes me whine like a little idiot kid lol its just aggravating
